This was an entertaining and fast-paced read, perfect for those who love thrilling, action-based reads like James Patterson or David Baldacci. Read for a chance to WIN?!?
About the book WIN:
(From the publisher): From a #1 New York Times bestselling author comes this thrilling story that shows what happens when a dead man’s secrets fall into the hands of vigilante antihero—drawing him down a dangerous road.
Over twenty years ago, the heiress Patricia Lockwood was abducted during a robbery of her family’s estate, then locked inside an isolated cabin for months. Patricia escaped, but so did her captors — and the items stolen from her family were never recovered.
Until now. On the Upper West Side, a recluse is found murdered in his penthouse apartment. Inside are two objects of note: a stolen Vermeer painting and a leather suitcase bearing the initials WHL3. For the first time in years, the authorities have a lead — not only on Patricia’s kidnapping, but also on another FBI cold case — with the suitcase and painting both pointing them toward one man.
Windsor Horne Lockwood III — or Win, as his few friends call him — doesn’t know how his suitcase and his family’s stolen painting ended up with a dead man. But his interest is piqued, especially when the FBI tells him that the man who kidnapped his cousin was also behind an act of domestic terrorism — and that the conspirators may still be at large. The two cases have baffled the FBI for decades. But Win has three things the FBI doesn’t: a personal connection to the case; an ungodly fortune; and his own unique brand of justice.

Reader’s Thoughts
The main character, Win, is essentially Batman. This mega-rich billionaire is on the quest for justice and doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty in the process. Born into a life of privilege, he is conceited and arrogant. He acts without fear of being held accountable, knowing his extreme wealth and class will buy him out of trouble. He’s also a charming and witty ladies man with an unparalleled ego.
It’s been a while since I’ve read a book from the perspective of an antihero, and I have to say, I rather enjoyed it. Win’s character could have come across as entirely unlikeable, but instead, I found myself intrigued. I’m sure we’ve all wondered what we would do with unlimited funds — and Win’s voice definitely carried the narrative.
And for those who’ve read the Myron Bolitar series by Harlan Corben, then the character of Win will be altogether familiar. (Win features as the loyal best friend of Myron.) While I was unfamiliar with Coben’s previous work, this didn’t stop me from enjoying or following this spinoff story. For fans of the Myron Bolitar series, however, I’m sure this book will be all the more appreciated.
All in all, WIN is entertaining and fast-paced. The plot was complex and full of unexpected twists. I could definitely see myself reading more Harlan Coben novels after this!
