November 2022 Mini-Challenge

The 52 Book Club is turning FIVE!

On November 28, 2017 the very first 52 Book Club challenge was released. The past five years have been full of growth, fun, and above all, an abundance of books — our hearts are full! This little book community is our favorite thing on the internet and we’re so grateful to be able to read alongside all of you. Thank you for celebrating another year with us!

We’ve got lots of great things planned for this month (including some giveaways and the release of our upcoming 2023 challenge!) So, what better way to kick off a month of celebration than with a BIRTHDAY themed mini-challenge?

November 2022 Mini-Challenge:

1. Dessert on the cover

2. Let’s party!

3. Related to the word “gift”

Match one book to each of the prompts (for a total of three books). Share your picks in our Facebook groupGoodreads group, or on Instagram using the hashtag #the52bookclub2022. You can also find these listed as bonus prompts on our StoryGraph challenge.

You can choose to read these books in addition to your regular 52 Book Club reads (as of right now, we’re at 70 prompts for the year), or you can combine them with prompts still left on your 2022 list. As always, get as creative as you like with the prompts and have fun!

Need some help with how to interpret these prompts?

  1. Dessert on the cover: For this prompt, find a book that has dessert on the cover! It could be a sweet treat pictured in the cover design, or the word “dessert” or the name of a specific dessert in the title. Common examples of desserts include: cakes, cupcakes, candies, chocolate, pie, etc, but any type of dessert from anywhere in the world will work for this prompt.

Accidentally dropped and smeared a bit of your own chocolate cake on the cover of your recent read? Don’t worry, we’ll count that as a creative interpretation too. πŸ˜‰

  1. Let’s party! This prompt is all about parties — so have fun with it! It could be a murder mystery where guests are all invited to a dinner party, a children’s story featuring a birthday party, a book set at a grand costume party, or a romance novel featuring an individual who is part of a wedding party. Any type of party works for this prompt! You could also pick a book with balloons or another representation of a party on the cover, or the word “party” in the title. Alternatively, you might decide on a character who likes to party or who could be described as the “life of the party.”

  1. Related to the word “gift:” For this prompt, you might pick a book with a gift on the cover or a cover design that has ribbons or wrapping paper on it. A character might give or receive a gift as part of the story, or it might refer to a character who is exceptionally gifted or talented in some way.

You might also decide to use a book that you received as a gift or that you’ve gifted to someone else in the past. (Or perhaps pick a book from a list like this: Indigo’s Most Gifted Books.)
